THE SIX FIFA RULES THAT WOULD REVOLUTIONALIZE FOOTBALL

Responsible for defining the rules of football worldwide and its future modifications, the International Football Association Board (IFAB) have introduced the document 'Play Fair!' which includes several proposals that would revolutionize the world of football if they are finally approved.
All of them will be studied in depth at the next IFAB general assembly in March 2018.
"It is a radical document, and we can say that it is a silent revolution designed to make football even better," David Elleray, IFAB's technical director, said to The Times.

1- Two halves of 30 minutes

No more wasted time. The clock would stop whenever the ball is not in game like in basketball.

2- Goal of punishment

A goal given instead of a penalty should foul play occur in the area.

3- Changes for corner kicks and fouls

With corner kicks and fouls, the player could play the ball again without another teammate touching it.

4- Free-kicks whilst ball is still moving

Free-kicks could be taken with the ball in motion.

5- No injury time

The end of each game can only be whistled when the ball is off of the pitch, as in rugby.

6- Penalty, not free-kicks, for back pass

Goalkeepers would be sanctioned with a penalty and not with indirect free kicks if they picked up the ball from a back pass.

ABBA penalties

In addition, the objective of the International Football Association Board is to continue promoting the system of ABBA penalties premiered in the World Cup Under 20 tournament in Korea.
